Hi Guys,
Just stopping by to say hello to all my old friends. Still working two jobs to make ends meet, substitute teacher by day and convenience store clerk by night. New school year budgets don't look good around here. Seems schools have come to the end of lists of experienced teachers they can force to take the "early retirement incentive," a.k.a. "the offer they can't refuse," and turning to cutting hours and benefits and laying off.
The boomerang kid is appartment hunting again and the young marrieds graduate from law school in 2006 so looks like pulling up stakes and moving is back on the table. In the process of taking the standardized Praxis tests that other states require, even of fully certified teachers with Master's degrees now. Interesting how a two hour test counts for more than two decades of actual experience working with children.

Hi everyone,
It's been a few years since I visited this site.
My sister Tanya passed away last December from cancer. My son, Alex, is an architect in Nashville.
I am trying to wind down my commitments and spend the last years before I fully retire in God's work.
God bless you all,

Hello PVA Friends,
Since I just saw a note from a fellow classmate from 1967, thought I'd say hi and write a few lines also. Hello David! Good to hear about you.
As has already happened to many of you, I just had the sad event of loosing my first parent, my dad, Hugh Smead on January 15th. Some of you may remember him from our days at PVA when my parents would come down from Vermont to visit us. My Dad had polio in 1953 when I was 4, my brother, Steve Smead, was 1 1/2 and other brother, Don Smead, was "on the way". Our Dad had been a wonderful father, husband, grandfather, father-in-law and friend to many. He provided very well for his family and was a wonderful strong Christian man. in spite of his disabilility and having to spend his life in the wheelchair. The Lord allowed him to go to sleep in peace at home with all of us spending the last few days with him. God was merciful in not letting him suffer too long. We all miss him very much and it's a new life for us without him. I had the privilege of being a secondary caregiver for him, (Mom was the primary one) for the past 3 years.
My brother, Steve, is co-owner, along with his wife, Deena, of Leahy Press in Montpelier, Vt. They became first time grandparents last April and love being grandparents.
Other brother, Don, and his wife, Lorelei, are still running my Dad's woodworking business, Smead Woodcraft, in Putney, Vt. His daughter, Kristy, is getting married this summer in Maine. Right now, Don and Lorelei are spending a week or more in Hawaii.
My family is doing well. My husband, Gary, is busy with his carpentery work and is very active in the church. Our son, Matt, is the Asst. Patient Finance Director of the Applachia Region for Adventist Health System and is located in Fletcher, N.C. Our daughter, Jessie, graduated with her AS in Nursing in Dec. from Southern Adventist University. She is back there for another year to get her BS in Nursing this next December. We cherish our family times together.
Would love to hear from any of my fellow classmates or anyone that knows me.

Just logged onto the pva website for the first time in about 1 year and scanned thru the messages. Not many of them from anybody I know, but was nice to read Brenda's message from back in August.
A little bit of news from Idaho is that Paula and I have moved. A whole 7 miles. from Caldwell to Nampa. My email stays the same, but for anybody interested, our new address is: Dave & Paula Lawrence, 15 S. Cobblestone Court, Nampa, ID 83651 - Phone 208-442-3058

Thank you, John,
and Mr. Hamel, and Val Morikone and Paul Bauer - I'm not sure it's even possible to keep track anymore. Arianne has had thank you cards made up from a print of Allison's last painting - so maybe we'll figure out all the people who've sent along condolences and sweet messages of comfort - it could happen. Hopefully, Arianne will also be able to stay on track at UGA while dealing with all this - she's set to graduate in Anthropology in August, and headed for study abroad in NZ and Fiji, Maymester.
Meanwhile - Allison's dear friend Rachel "Rae" - is developing a website in her honor. We're collecting photos and memorabilia to post there - the site is in its infancy - but all ready there is enough to fill a book. It can be viewed at: http://www.raerae.org/
we're getting through it. Thanks to everyone.

Today is my birthday and I've had a vision of my youth through an unlikely source - someone tattling to my mother today after church. Yes, at age 44 I am still held hostage to comments made to my parents which they hope can be used to improve my access to a productive adulthood! The fact that they are still wishing this at age 44 should tell you something...
Anyway, at least the comment was positive (although I assume there are just as many negative ones to be gleaned). It got me thinking about how much merit we attribute to the PVA characteristics assigned to us and others based on childish behaviour of that time. I know that I was nervous until my mother told me that I had been kind to someone by lending them an item of clothing for a banquet when that person had not had something "Fantastic" to wear. As a senior, I was forever remembered by that freshman I can no longer call to mind. She was too busy or too nervous to come over to speak to me after church when my name had been read as a visitor on that previous Sabbath. I wish she had. How strange that we can be forever remembered for such a slight thoughtfulness (I mean, we ALL exchanged clothes, right?).
My New Years Resolution is to mind the small things and try to do more substantial things for which to be remembered. So, if during the years of my tenure at PVA from Sept. 1976 though May 1979 you ever stole my hasbrowns or my boyfriend, I promise not to remember those things during our next Alumni Reunion. We were kids and shouldn't be held accountable forever. If however you did something nice or I did something thoughtful, let's exchange memories and use that to bring a smile or exact vengeance upon parents who rue that we had ever been brought up with any manners.
Just a thought -
Jackie Baker, 1979

In answer to Doug's question below. Here is hoping that all of you in Florida have finally seen the last of hurricane season. Call from the son in Memphis this early morning indicates the latest storm took a more westerly route. He was without power and unable to contact his wife who was in New Orleans for a job interview. I'm sure she wasn't thrilled at being awakened by her mother-in-law at 5:30 a.m. CDT, but at least I was able to tell her husband she was safe and sound.

Hello everyone! I just wanted to drop a line to my friends from PVA. I was in the Class of 1981. I have had a colorful life since then. I had to give up working 3 years ago due to the fact that multiple sclerosis has taken a toll on my thought process and energy level. I remember foundly sneaking down to Mrs. S apartment and watching television. I remember all those tutoring sessions we had to learn english right before morning chapel. I now live in Nashville, Tennessee.
Feel free to email me and keep in touch.

Hi again everyone. Let me add my support to the idea of a discussion site that could link to this one but be clearly state that it was not owned or controlled by the PVAAA. We do have unused bulletin board space over on www.classmates.com, though that would probably require anyone who wanted to get involved to pay the Classmates.com membership fee.
One thing at a time John. I'm taking the Praxis II subject area exams this fall and winter. I have been certified (or is that certifiable) as a middle school teacher for so long that they didn't exist. However, I can't move to a new state without first passing them. I'm going to find it very interesting to see how well the old lady with the 33 year-old science degree does in comparison with the new grads.
Good to hear from you Paul. Your kids are really growing up. Looks like you had a great vacation.
I don't understand you youngsters (Paul and John) complaining about your age. Especially when I'm old enough to have been the babysitter for one of you.
When is the next "big" reunion Helen?

Hello Dorothy, Paul etc. Nice to see you checking into the site. I think Paul's suggestion that we have a separate link for discussion forums deserves some consideration. Happy B-Day Paul, mine is coming up in November. I will try my best to kill off the memory neurons that contain my birth date .Dorothy, consider S. CA for teaching. With your degree's and experience you should be able to fit into one of the districts. Don't be so attached to the East Coast! Regards John

When you live at Andrews University, it seems that sooner or later almost everyone comes through. I always love it when people make the effort to say hello. Lauri LaClair Perry was just out here bringing her youngest daughter to school. Lauri, my sister Marcia, my brother Bill, and I were the entire school one year in St. Johnsbury,VT. So we have memories beyond PVA and college. It was great to get to spend a few hours together. Sharon

Don ('68) and Alice Schander ('70) Merrill showed up in church this week (Stoneham Memorial) and it got me to thinking about PVA so I logged in to the website this evening for the first time in eons. I see my pastor - Dennis Farley - is still quite active on this site and actually posted a picture of a mini reunion I hosted at the beginning of 2004.
I'm glad to see that I didn't miss a reunion for lack of communication after I changed my e-mail address and didn't notify the webmaster.
David and I live in Wakefield, Massachusetts. He demos software at hospitals around the country, Canada, and sometimes England for MediTech. Surprisingly enough, he loves the travel. I work 3 days a week as Office Operations Manager at Peppercoin, a technology start-up. The rest of the time I manage my business, WriteLines. (see website at www.writelines.net) I conduct weekend writing retreats in Bed and Breakfast Inns and weekly writing workshops in my home. I lost my job in October 2003 and two weeks later met Aprille Tougas Janes ('70) in Amherst, MA, for dinner where she was attending a weekend certification course to teach writing workshops. I loved the concept immediately and took the same certification. I'm loving this new chapter of my life.
We have two daughters: Karen, who is married to Chris Greene and lives in Longwood, Florida, where she works in the payroll department of Orlando Public School Systems; and Laurel, who lives in Amherst, MA, where she is in her last year of a master's degree program for Audiology.
I realized this evening that our daughters are the same age or older than the faculty at PVA when David and I attended. The realization was shocking, it's now the middle of the night and I'm still pondering it!

I'm glad to see more activity in the guest book recently. Good to hear from all of you. Thanks, Tim...for backing me up on tech support. Just want to say that I have read the posts from those wishing to reinstate the discussion boards. Have taken the week to ponder. While I regret having to disappoint anyone, I feel that the decision to pull the discussion forums was the best decision, so will leave the discussion forums off. Paul's suggestion seems like a fair compromise...perhaps someone will set that in motion. A wonderful weekend to all.Helen Browning Kuntz

Hey Dorthy,
Thanks for the shout. I haven't been to the PVA page in a long time! Yesterday was my birthday (an event I try to forget)...but of course my people couldn't let that go by so there were balloons, streamers, and a big sign saying "Happy Birthday Colonel Bauer" in my office. Probably the most amusing part...I had to administer discipline to one of the troops and hadn't gotten all the streamer down before he had to come in. I guess standing there with blue and white streamers criss-crossing the office and big smiley balloons you kind of lose some of the effect.
We took a great trip this summer...Salt Lake City, Mount Ranier, the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington, and Yellowstone and the Tetons National Park.
A couple of weeks ago I helped escort 53 Pathfinders to Oshkosh, WI to meet up with 32,500 more of their closest friends. It was fun but cold!!!
Miss the communication we use to have on this website. Maybe we could start a discussion webpage and have a link on the PVA Alumni site with the requisite statement that the PVA Alumni Association does not indorse or have anything to do with this page.
I've posted a couple pictures in the message sections taking last week up in the Rockies.

After months of faithfully checking for new entries here only to find none I give it a break and we have a flurry of activity.
Sharon D. -- Good to hear from you. Are Nancy and her husband going out to join Alan Knowles and his family who were out in Africa the last I heard?
John B. -- Did you notice that the website is under new management? Maybe if we promise to be polite to believers like Gailon, Elmer, et al, Helen will let us have some space on the back pages again. Don't know that I'll have a lot of time to join in, but will probably find some in and around substitute teaching, the retail job, and getting the e-Bay store set up to dispose of several generations of "family heirlooms." I also need to find a place in education, where wisdom gained from age, experience, successful parenting, and the pursuit of advanced degrees are more prized than the cost savings of hiring a recent twenty-something B.A.
Sarah F. -- Continued prayers for Paul. Sound like a very disappointing weekend. But if the beeper is now going off it should indicate that he has moved to the top of the long list for transplants. We will all keep praying I am sure.
Brenda B. -- You just need to keep looking for the light at the end of the long tunnel that you have been in. Divorce is never easy, but know that the Lord never intended for us to be in marriages that would see us fleeing without anything but the clothes on our backs. I am glad to know that you have such a supportive brother.
ronald joseph -- Hope that you will stop back and tell those of us who are still around what you have been up to for the last two or three decades. As far as the transcript goes, I believe that you should be able to get one from the Education Department of the Southern New England Conference, 34 Sawyer Street, P.O. Box 1169, South Lancaster, MA 01561.

It is with sadness but great resolve that I annnounce my divorce being completed yesterday, Aug 10 at 8:50 am. after 18 years of marriage. Because of having to flee the house 2 & 1/2 yrs ago, we actually lived together 15 & 1/2 yrs. My things, including most of my clothes, piano, & furniture, which I will be able to get soon, have been in the house all this time. But within one week, God provided for 3 familes to go in together & donate money for me to purchase a Roland full size keyboard, touch sensitive, midi capable, sustain pedal, & alot of sounds like harp, strings or pipe organ that I use when playing for weddings. And if I wake up at 3 am & can't sleep, can put on headphones & play Bach to my hearts content without neighbors hearing a peep. So it has been a very freeing experience to know that things don't matter in order to survive. It is our spirit that does. And that one is stronger than one thinks at the time.
I have taken my maiden name back so from now on will be known as Brenda Boynton. (Class of '70) The court paperwork lists me as the defendant since my husband filed first. This experience is the hardest thing I have ever had to do in life since I don't believe in divorce, but God has seen me through so far. Has sent ppl & information at exactly the right time to allow me to move forward. Has also sent ppl for me to help. So it has ended up to be quite an adventure. There is a sentence that I keep on my fridge, from a Christian book, that says "Everything is working out perfectly":-)
I don't always see how God is fitting the pieces together but I know it is happening. Especially as I look back at things that seemed such a huge disaster at the time & have instead turned out to be protections or blessings:-) A BIG thank you to all who have been supportive of my journey. I couldn't have done it without you! A friend recently said, you have been in the surgery, chemo, radiation phase & as soon as the papers are signed, it becomes the death. So will allow myself some tears while looking forward in life.
My dear brother was there for support & since the case was first on the docket, took me for a "short" drive afterward. We ended up in Quebec City for the rest of the day enjoying all the sights & people. Met a wonderful man & woman from the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company) who asked us if we would be willing to be interviewed due to our uinque stories. We were unable to at that time but did exchange information. All from my asking a simple question about how something worked at the vegetarian restaurant we were eating at.
Later that night we had to seek cover from a big thundershower with lots of rain. Seeing as how our trip had not been planned but just evolved as we drove & reached Jackman, Maine, & then the border was ONLY about 16 miles away so we HAD to do that, etc, I had no coat or umbrella:-) & had worn my dress clothes to court. Ended up tearing a hole in a huge black trash bag from the restaurant we sought refuge in and wearing it outside. So looked kind of silly walking the streets late at night, trying to get back to the car from the old city to the new:-) But at least I was dry:-)
Had to laugh because it reminded me of living in the Boston suburbs & going to the Arthur Fiedler Memorial Concert after his death. It was a duplication of the huge Bicentennial concert which hundreds of thousands of ppl attended. I had been to that one also & got on tv with only feet showing while up on a fence with someone else, trying to keep our balance holding this huge American flag during the encore of the "Stars And Stripes Forever". (The ppl next to us were mimes & I got to watch them apply their stage makeup during the concert, for a show afterward:-) Quite interesting. Back to the Memorial Concert. The entire day, as we waited, it poured rain & we ended up wearing black trashbags most of the time because of having to reserve seating from very early morning on. I believe that Cydee McKay was there for that one. Good memories can be such neat things.
My brother is getting married soon to a wonderful woman from Chile that he met over 3 years ago while sending out change of address info because of changing servers. He had never met her & she had never met him. She was not in his puter addy book. Yet received his change of address info & wrote back saying, who are you? :-) She is an SDA & also vegetarian as he is. Is a teacher of younger children & sings & plays guitar. It appears that I will be able to attend the wedding in that country. Look forward to doing some traveling & seeing that part of the world. Then his new wife will come over to USA to live full time as soon as paperwork can be accomplished. Can't wait to have a new sister:-) She's as beautiful inside as out.
Have volunteered a 2nd summer at our youth camp & enjoyed it immensely. Have made many new friends & reconnected with some old ones. Some of them being Roger & Lori Knowlton, Jeanie Thomas Pierce who was a camp nurse, Beverly Henderson Snow, also a camp nurse, Julie Cushing- oh dear, forgot her married name ?Young?-also a camp nurse. Then Dennis Child, Dick Merrill & others up for Motorcycle Weekend. I had to register everyone & had a grand time seeing all the bikes lined up. Wayne Harlow with wife Nancy were in charge this year & did a great job. We had special T-shirts that daughter Jen Harlow & friends created for Motorcycle Weekend. Sold all but 3. Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time as they biked to the White Mountain area & back. Have enjoyed our conversations & laughs very much. Also was able to talk with Judy Wethey G. at campmeeting & sent love back to her sister Kathie & husband Jim. At the same time met Norman Tremper's sister & my parents got to chat with her also.
The Osh Kosh Camporee is going on as I write this. Many of the camp staff have gone out there to assist so it was sad to lose ppl a little at a time this year. . Have been so blessed to be at camp though, as my apt temps get up over 100 degrees & I cannot cool it off because my landlord pays the electric bill & won't allow air conditioning. Hee, never watch infomercials late at night. I did & ended up purchasing the worlds greatest invention called Cool Fan- NOT!!!!! Gel packs you freeze & then attach 3 at a time to the front of your fan. Supposed to cool the air by 15 degrees. Sounds good. But make sure your fan is big enough first. Mine wasn't & promptly toppled over with all the weight:-( So can only do one at a time & perhaps get the temp down by 5 degrees. One can always hope. I found that trying to use 3 gel packs at at time also cut down on the amount of air the fan blades were able to push through. Oh well.
At campmeeting this year was surprised to hear a man's name announced that I have been corresponding with for over a year but had never met. He & wife go yearly for several months to China. He spoke about the work there & it was wonderful to go up to him later, speak his email name & then see his face light up as he realized who he was talking to:-) Got several hugs out of that one & also had a nice chat with his wife. Their son does alot of work for setting up & maintaining websites for Tagnet, etc. for the church. The son visited Maine several years ago & met my brother & myself as we used to be ops on the SDA chat room a few years ago. Through that, made friends with ppl all over the world & have just been invited to my friend's place in Australia when I can get there.
Valerie, very sorry to hear about your brother. My prayers are with your family. Thanks for including the pic of the three of you. Please keep in touch. I appreciate your writing to me a while ago.
Part of my journey through divorce, surgery- being housebound for several months, & a car accident which caused injuries, has included being a prayer warrior for Lifetalk Radio. Our SDA 24/7 net radio station based in Tennessee which reaches out now to 120 countries. If anyone would like to listen, here is the addy. www.lifetalk.net It has been wonderful to be able to connect up some music friends with the station & get their music played on air. I just made some new music friends & will be sending their CD to be used as God wishes, on to the station also. Perhaps you remember the song "Always" which has been much used for weddings etc. Well the husband wrote that & sang it as a duet while in the group Atlantic Star. Met his now wife who was a high fashion model in Italy, Paris, Manhatten at the time. They have a wonderful family & were the guest speakers at family camp this year. What a testimony they give about how God led them out of the music/fashion world into work for Him! Going through what I have has made me realize that music can be very healing. have enjoyed the Lifetalk station so much. There are some neat movie clips about creation, the Second Coming etc that are fun to watch. They hope to be working on one about the 10 Commandments also and can use any financial support all of you have to keep this work going. That is my ad, not theirs:-) Hope to hear from anyone who wishes to write. Have a good rest of the summer.

Just an update on our lives.
About a year and half ago, I shared that Paul was put on a lung transplant list. Last Friday night, the beeper went off for the first time. We were joyous, scared, hopeful and disorganized. We traveled two hours to the hospital in Gainesville and began the process for admission. Another telephone call was received. Only this time, we were told the lungs were not good enough. Thank you for coming, but you can go home.
So we are still waiting and hoping. Please keep up in your prayers. I appreciate all of them.
Thank you to those who wrote back to me.
Sarah

I just read the most recent entries in the guestbook and thought back to the times of spirited debate on various issues. Of course they have all been removed and we are down to entries regarding who we saw and where they are going. OK, to add to the dribble I just got another NIH grant funded! Yahoo! So what! This site has now been relegated to the mundane. Like a piece of bland toast, no jelly, no marmalade, just dry toast! Doug, Dorothy, Stefan, Paul where are you? Anything to discuss? I could add some comments on our discussion of our latest book on the evils of fundamentalism. I hope I do not get some peoples shirts in a twist but I would like to resurrect the time when we actually entered some things into this site that were interesting to read not to mention, challenged some of the truths that we were spoon fed while on our 1-4 yr journeys at PVA. But, I guess we are all in "harmony" now?

With my oldest daughter Kimberly graduating this year I can not help but to think back to 1977 when I walked out of the gym at PVA with a diploma in my hand. Thinking what do I do now?
So many years later I see the same thoughts going through my daughters mind and walking into a world that is much more difficult and complicated then the one I entered way back when.
So to all the alumni with offspring(s) leaving the safe world of home and high school, I wish you all the best.

Greetings to all! Many of you are asking when the next reunion is. We are shooting for an Autumn reunion this year and we hope to have a few surprises for you. We're trying to firm things up as soon as possible so we will have something definitive to pass along to you. Also, those of you who have written in with address changes and such, I appreciate your patience while I am trying to get my new website duties figured out. Bear with me...I will get to the bottom of things. Thanks to all who have been so supportive and helpful. It matters!!!

Contrary to the report published in the recent "Fiat Lux," Hugh E. IS NOT deceased. :-) In fact, as recently as a few weeks ago, he, along with Harlow and Nancy, Newton and Janet, and yours truly, was skiing at Burke.
There's actually quite a humorous story attached to how that misinformation came to be, but I'll leave that for Sipo to tell as he sees fit. In any case, to paraphrase the saying attributed to Mark Twain, "Reports of his demise are greatly exaggerated."

Anyone heard from Denise Gaynor lately? Janice Lee (GRANT - married now) was asking me about her the other day, and I lost track of her several years ago after exchanging a couple of emails while in LA. The email address on the alumni list is obsolete. Tried to find her on the internet, but I don't think she owns restaurants in Pittsburg or is a guidance counselor at a Catholic school in Missouri, so no luck. :-)
Appreciate any info, Farley

Howser you rascal - what a treat to hear from you! I'm in Stoneham, so let's plan on getting together one way or another while you're here. I think I'll be in Nashville on the 22nd and for the week preceding it, so we'll have to get together before that.
Looking forward to hearing from you, FARLEY

Alrighty then,
If you'll go to the message center and then to reunion central (http://www.pvaalumni.com/171_7121.JPG), you'll find a new picture of a mini-reunion.
It's an excellent shot of Judy Fields, Linda Corcoran, Alice Rowell, and Carol Corcoran, taken just last Sabbath.
Have a look and see how the sparkle still shines. :-)
I'm not sure how the links work, but hopefully you'll find your way there one way or another.

Well the time has come. I have been the webmaster of PVAAlumni.com for over 4 years now after taking it over from Paul B. I have enjoyed working on it and with my fellow alumni that use it.
It is time for some new fresh blood to take it over.
I will turn the domain name of pvaalumni.com over to the Alumni Asc. soon.
Anyone interested in taking over the website and the email list that goes with it just drop me an email. webmaster@pvaalumni.com
I will help the new webmaster with learning the ropes of the system and how it all works.

Hi Val,
Happy to oblige - first on the left is my wife (Barbara, USA), next to her is David Slongwhite followed by Dale Finley Slongwhite, then Maureen Poirier Hodson's daughter and Maureen's husband (Jon, GBA), then Wayne Slongwhite and his wife (Ronalee Pendleton, SLA).
Starting in the front on the right is a friend and neighbor to Dale and David. Next is Ben Shrock, followed by Aprille Tougas Janes, Maureen Poirier, and Debbie Sundin (I forget her last name, sorry Deb.) :-)
We had a wondeful time thanks to Dale and David's getting everyone together.
This was easy and fun and very enjoyable - makes you wonder why we don't do this type of thing more often. :-)
Safe traveling and love to your family, D

Dennis,
I enjoyed reading your latest email and seeing the photo too. Would you be willing to post the names which go with the picture of the PVA students from your recent mini reunion? My father will appreciate seeing the picture which I will take when my dh and I fly out for my brother's memorial service next week. Thanks again for the updates.

Hi Folks,
Look in the message center under reunion central for a picture from about a month ago to challenge your memories. Seven of the people around this table are from the 68-70 range. See anyone you recognize? We had a terrific Sabbath together - a virtual mini-reunion. Time now to start getting into the mood for PVA Gathering this summer. I understand info will be coming soon regarding that.
In adition to those in the picture, I spoke with Barbara Sprague Pervier recently. She's off to visit family and friends for a bit. Saw Wayne Harlow at Pine Tree the other morning when I did a James White program for chapel. Saw Dave Randall and Linda Nickerson Randall recently when Linda had back surgery. Going to be seeing Hugh Sipowicz and Dale Newton in a few weeks for skiing at Burke. Saw Carole Harlow recently too - picked her up at Logan and delivered her to her folks place in Maine for a visit. Her husband and she are building a new house somewhere around Palm Desert, I forget specifically where. Spoke with Dave Cushing's wife recently - hoping to catch him soon too. I see Stephanie Armstrong Wall at church, and Cheryl Wilkins at church and school. Anybody head from Brenda Boynton Steele lately? She's disappeared from my inbox for a while. Received a terrific lot of books from Doug Knowlton around Christmas - having a great time going through them. Went to lunch recently with Scott Slack - a treat to see him. I see Carol Corcoran Cabrera and Judy Wethey Gilleo when I'm at the conferenc office. Jeannie Thomas Pierce emails me frequently to share her joy at being home in Maine again after so many years. I understand that Guy and Nancy Weaver Thomas bought a place not far from our Richmond house recently - have to stop in and see them once we open up in the spring. I saw Randy Kemberling recently too, for those Maineiacs who may remember him. Found out that he is about 10 miles from where we were in LA and neither of us ever knew about the other being there. :-( Stopped fora visit with Sherry Sipowicz at her home in Hallowell a few weeks back. Met Kitty Conley Quick in Boston back before Christmas for a day of strolling, gabbing, shopping, and lunch. Been exchanging phone messages with Mark Harris - expect to catch him soon. See Jim and Kathy Wethey Penney from time to time when I'm over Lancaster way.
That's all I can think of for now - slap me if I left you out. :-)
Val, so sorry to learn of your family's loss. I haven't been on the site for a long time so had missed it previously. :-(
A restful holiday weekend to you all - let's hear some news. :-)
Farley
