Comments:   How wonderful to find this site. I had lost it when it moved. Joyce Aijala told me where to look during our phone conversation today. For the past few years I have been kept very busy teaching piano (at times have had over 30 students), playing for 2 choirs, doing Sunday Services for the local Baptist Church in the summer to allow their musician to take a break, and also am in charge of ordering, pricing, & displaying the organic produce at my brother Bryce's natural food store in Skowhegan, ME. It is called Spice of Life so if anyone is in the area, stop in. I usually have at least 4 programs to play for at Christmas time. Then go out to churches with the Norridgewock SDA school choir called Kapelle. The school is Riverview Memorial School. At Music Clinic held at Pinetree Academy in early April, I am the assistant to the piano clinician Roy Imperio from the South Lancaster area. This spring will be the 5th year we have worked together. Last Clinic we had over 30 students on the stage with 8 pianos all going at the same time. Then come the end of year recitals & graduation. Add in church music, weddings, & funerals & I end up quite busy. Life is strange. I started out as an RN working at New England Memorial Hospital but had to leave nursing in Aug. of 85 after a back injury so went into music & natural foods. Who would have thought that I would learn ordering, dealing with reps, advertising, bagging, decorating, clerking, etc. I float wherever needed. The customers are wonderful ppl who have become friends. I find that my nursing background allows me to research things for them. At times it costs my brother sales when I think something would not be safe combined with prescription meds. Forgot to mention that I sang in a chorale society right outside of Boston for 3 years. We did works like Beethovens's 9th Symphony with orchestra & performed all over Boston including Northeastern University. The students at Riverview Memorial school are great. It seems strange that so much time has passed since I attended all 10 grades there. Thank you for having this site where we can come together from all over the world & remember our days as friends & classmates. I miss those days & all those I went to school with. It is a particular blessing to find the yearbook pics for 1970 as I appear to have lost every one of my yearbooks from everywhere. I think someone else put them somewhere when I moved. Hopefully will recover them someday. Please make note of my new e-mail address. It is my private one. Some memories. The choir singing "Lead Me Lord" to start our church services. How much fun we had on all our choir trips. One church we attended had a piano so out of tune that I had to leave all the melody notes out of the accompiament & just play the harmony so the choir wouldn't go off pitch. I remember many smiles. Starting my senior year with the first get acquainted games outside with David Young. Playing the school song for ASB. Does anyone have an extra copy of that? I can't remember it now. Learning the song "These Are the Hands" without music (we couldn't find any) to accompany Sheena Anthony. What a wonderful voice she had. Then going to NYC with Sheena & the Westmans to play for a concert to help her raise money for college. Our class of 70 class trip to Martha's Vineyard. We rented bikes while the buses took the food, etc. to the youth hostel?sp. Meanwhile all of us are pedaling in the pouring rain. I had my hair in pigtails & water was streaming off the ends of them which cause the gears on my bike to not function. Would be trying to get up speed to make it up a hill & all of a sudden my feet would be going round & round with no resistance. Riding in the buses to Gay Head singing 99 bottles of soymilk on the wall:))) Then we headed to a Red Sox game but one of the 2 buses broke down so we ended up craming everyone onto 1 bus. There were ppl over head in the luggage rack & sitting in the aisle. I remember class night playing an "American Youth Concerto" as a duet with Mrs. Wagner. Also working for months to get ready to play "Russian Picnic" for the choir at the spring concert and how fast the notes had to go. I remember Friday night vespers where we would have to wear black & white as ushers. Singing "Now the Day is Over". Dave Randall doing his drum solos so wonderfully well. English class where we had to memorize poetry & stand up front & recite it. "Flower in a Crannied Wall", "To a waterfowl", something about daffodils, Simon & Garfunkle ?sp being played so we could understand the msg of the song. Picking up our cinnamon buns etc. on friday for Sabbath morning. The smell of the tunnels. Ski day where those not used to skiing tended to sit down on the T-bars. Physics class when someone in the back doing an extra credit experiment had it blow up & black soot rained down on us as we had to evacuate the room. Extra credit with Mr. Wolcott at ?3am in the morning in winter to look at the night sky. That was cold! The banquets & open houses. Courtesy Week with the king & queen being crowned. How beautiful to sit in the caf & watch sunset happen or the colors change in the fall. Judy Ryder helping all of us out with our physics problems at night. Girls running into the bathroom between classes to blowdry their hair under the hand/hair dryers mounted on the wall. Girls ironing their hair to get it straight:))) Our piano quartet with Martha Knowles, Patti Medieros, & Jean?. But most of all, the joy of making friends you would have for life. Rudy Chevannes?sp falling off the band risers when he was playing the tym. drums & took a step backwards forgetting he was on the top riser during the middle of the song. Having to climb back up to a huge applause:)) Phil Giddings bringing his briefcase to class right before lunch & opening it up & passing food back. Usually the teacher did not see it. So much teasing, joking, fun, we had. God bless all of you. Thank you for the joy you brought into my life. I'll never forget.

Comments:   I want to wish everyone a year of mercy & kindness, received and given without exception! Peace to every nation and every individual, most especially those who do not appear to deserve it. Now is our chance to do that radical thing called forgiveness, totally on faith. Without knowing the end from the beginning, without having given our approval for certain events ahead of time. I for one am grateful for this year's awesome opportunities for spiritual growth. There's a potential miracle within every single event and circumstance, no matter how it looks, as we have all experienced first-hand, and I think that's why we are told to give thanks in ALL things -- not just thanks for what we judge to be good, because we simply do not know. Matthew 5:43-48 contains some tall marching orders and a lot of comfort too. And just maybe the formula for getting the results we really want. Best Wishes to All in 2002! I am grateful for PVA and for this forum. --Becky

This year so many have lost so much. May our prayers be with those that defend this nation, the country and people we are invloved with and the solders loved ones, that are thinking of them while they are in harms way.

So much to be sad about, so much to rejoice in. The times have surely changed, But a few constants remain, our God, our family and our friends.

God bless America.
Thank you all for being my friend.

You can read it online at http://www.adventistreview.org/2001-1547/story2.html. Tim, you're doing a great job with this site. Since we all know that Mr. Gates and his competition will never agree, the rest of us have to do the best we can to work around compatibility problems. Comments:   I found that Netscapes latest version does work with the links on here for Reunion 2002. Yes, it is a hasslte with certain things not working with other certain things. But AOL ownes Netscape and AOL does their own thing. IE is owned by B. Gates and he does his own thing. Once these two decide on a standard, life will be good. But dont hold your breath

I will send out the Reunion 2002 registration form with the next email. As for the travel information, I will send that out with a later emailing. I do not wish to trigger the AOL anti spamming software they have. So, one attachment at a time and atleast 30 days apart.

If anyone wants these forms in a .txt format or Word format or you can not get it to work with your system, just drop me an email and I will send you out a copy.

We hope to see many of you at Reunion 2002!

Comments:   John, I had a similar problem since I'm using Netscape 4.7. I tried using an old version of Internet Explorer and it worked. We're having these kinds of compatibility problems at work, too. We can't access certain sites, yet to upgrade would mean we'd be incompatible with the Associated Press' photo retrieval software which doesn't work with newer releases of the browsers. I'll probably end up installing the latest version of Internet Explorer since I've heard that the latest Netscape Navigator release doesn't work as well with the latest Java stuff. It's annoying to have to upgrade constantly in order to have something that works, but I suppose that it's inevitable. Tim, will we be including the registration form and travel info in the next e-mail newsletter?

Comments:   Whoa Dennis - some trip - and being brave for the rest of us - to fly. We had our jet rides out of the way earlier this year, one to CT/Vermont for Val's Dad's funeral, and then to California for Kristen's graduation. When we visited my folks on Long Island the first week in October, is was the first coupla' thousand miles we put on the new Jeep. It was so hard to leave Huntington, knowing we had so much more to do in terms of planning with the folks for their move to ? (possibly assisted living - possibly with us when we move down somewhere between Sarasota and Ft. Myers in 2002. To say nothing of the gorgeous weather that week - that was a joy to two Floridians who'd survived the heat and humidity of July/August. Good market on LI for selling houses - just have to get that mess of permits and certificates worked out. We're way over our brief romance with the idea of going to live on LI. For less than half the property taxes per year we could rent a cottage during the summer and enjoy all the perks temporarily and return to the tropics when the air clears! Writing is my way of being connected and creative in the world. The web link takes you to my current poetry community - pathetic.org crashed in the Spring - and has just recently gotten back online after a long hiatus. Great group of people who love writing. My material is not for the faint of heart, i.e., not "chapel" poetry, so don't expect Edgar Guest or Ideals Magazine if you surf over and check it out. There is a wide variety of styles and generations and interests on pathetic.org, from one end of the spectrum to the other, but by and large one of the best sites I've hooked up with for writers in this genre. So, aside from dreams of semi-retirement near the gulf, gardening, and having m'own bookstore, that's what's been occupying my time (beyond work). Adios for this time around, Doug&Val http://www.pathetic.org/library/2740/

Comments:   Hey, I sure had the time of my life this past August when my husband and I traveled from WV to MA on a short vacation. We went to Quabbin Reservoir (ate our lunch there) and then drove to the PVA campus. I had contacted Sergeant Wolanski previous to our trip and he said he'd give us a tour of the place, even to the faculty circle. I hadn't been back since 1973 when I was in Gail Copsey Smith's wedding at the girl's dorm chapel. It was so special to walk the halls once again. The sergeant, who is the health director there at the police academy took us down the boys' dorm hallway, first floor (even saw where the grade school rooms were taught by Sadie Wolcott) and I was surprised to see that in the area in the boy's dorm where my mother, Helen Hamel, nurse for several years, had the infirmary, is where the sgt. has his medical room(s) My husband was amazed at the tunnels connecting the cafe with the dorms. After the sergeant showed us around (even got to go into the forensic lab which was the former band room where my father, Lyle Hamel taught band) the sergeant drove us in his car to the faculty circle. My husband and I were allowed to go inside the house I had lived in for 6 years. At present it is used as a gas testing site for the police and it was really rundown and in disrepair but how special to walk from room to room, remembering those special times from 1965-1971. As we drove around the faculty circle old memories and events cropped up, giving me the desire now to go back to visit once again and just spend as much time as I want to relive those years in my mind. Esposito's house is no longer there - it was burned down in a demonstration, using cameras inside and out to record the destructive force of fire. Copsey's house looked very good and is used for some type of office. The houses on the upper end seemed to be in good condition and being used. All in all, those few hours there made me feel so good. I too was trying to find where the ski hill had been located and the pine trees have grown so tall. I remember skiing by myself during a Christmas vacation, and falling, twisting my knee badly and having to limp home. My knee still reminds me of that event when I sit cross legged and then get up to walk. Anyway, just wanted to share about my trip to PVA this summer. I was blessed to go back to the campus where I lived from the age of 11-17.

Comments:   Today I was in contact with the head men's dean at WWC, John Foote. He's an East Coaster himself, having graduated from Union Springs Academy. Lodging will be available at the dorm during Reunion West 2002, June 5 and 6. The last few pieces are falling together and I'll talk with our association president, Helen Browning Kuntz, soon to nail down the details for the reunion. Expect us to start announcing registration info very soon. I'm looking forward to seeing you all out here.

Comments:   I'm on vacation this week and will try to use some of my free time to chat with the dormitory folk at WWC about renting rooms during PVA Reunion West 2002, scheduled for July 5 and 6 of next year. I hope to finish nailing plans down this week so we can announce registration, cafeteria and room costs and begin the process of preregistering all you alumni and former staff who will be coming in from out of town. This is taking longer than I anticipated, but I have a limited amount of free time and a stack of projects that continues to grow. At least I have my firewood in for this season. So bear with me and you should see details here soon. Dennis, I'm glad to have you back online, but was sorry to hear about your accident. God be with you. Any improvement on movement since we talked last?

Comments:   America: The Good Neighbor.

Widespread but only partial news coverage was given recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television commentator. What follows is the full text of his trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record:

"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth.

Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.

When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it.

When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes.

Nobody helped.

The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars! into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans.

I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10? If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes?

Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon -! not once, but several times - and safely home again.

You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here.

When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke.

I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.

Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those."

Stand proud, America!
God Bless this Land of Ours, guide it and keep it safe for all in the world

I think one of my most "vivid" memories of the ski hill was of a single faculty member (unnamed to protect the innocent) who had two young ladies visiting him on the same day. He kept one on the ski hill and one in his domicile and would run back and forth between the two because of "supervision" duties. Always wondered if they ever caught on... Paul

Carl Kruger drove the busload of us with brown bag lunches to Mt. Wachusettes, most Sunday mornings. Our class trip in 1967 was a day at Mount Haystack. Just got back from my first born's graduation from University of Hawaii. He stayed out there so maybe I'll have an excuse to go back out there again someday.

Comments:   Plan on coming to PVA Reunion West 2002 to be held on the Walla Walla College campus, College Place, Washington, in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium July 5 and 6. John Wagner, former men's dean at PVA, has accepted an invitation to present the sermon for the church service. His wife, Lilya, will assist with her keyboard talents during church. The Wagners served at PVA from its beginning to 1970. Those of us from later classes may not know them, but many of us do remember Lilya's father, Elder R. V. Vinglas, who taught English classes at PVA for many years. Pastor Dennis Farley (71), a faithful and appreciated supporter of our reunions, will be the speaker for vespers Saturday evening. You'll have to put up with me, possibly accompanied by a shoebox full of mangled Sunbeam auto parts, for vespers Friday night. There's a lot more planning to take place, so feel free to e-mail me at eedow@bmi.net with suggestions or to volunteer your services. I'd like to get participation from members of many classes, spanning the spectrum from the early days to the last years of operation. Former faculty and staff: I hope you all will join us, too. Watch this guestbook for future announcements.

Brian Schwab often operated the tow for various ski revelers. I hope you find some alumni in the area. I will be back in D.C. this year for national biomedical science meetings in the spring. Robin and the kids just got back from a week at camp meeting here in Wisconsin. They had a great time. Kimberly even sang a song she and her boy friend wrote. And one of the guest singers took a copy of it back with him to see if he wants to use it on his next CD.
I went up a couple of times. Never was much for the camping thing.
Then we are off to Salt Lake City to visit my sister and brother in law. (Deb, Quinton and Joel Ockenga) Never been out these before, so it should be a good time.

Comments:   I to have been emailing with Gary. I got him up to speed on what PVA is now.
I think we all have good and bad feelings about PVA. I for one seemed to "push the limits" now and then. Like when the boys Dean made me shave off my beard, it was against school policy. Then that very night, changed the rules to allow for beards. I now know that "Jack" had a warped since of humor. :)
But the one thing that remains a positive, are the folks we met while we attended PVA. PVA wasn't so much the school, as it was the folks we met. We are PVA. More now then ever.

Comments:   The latest Alumni Email list is online and has been sent out. If you were unable to read the email (AOL) I am able to send you a text version of the list. Please let me know if you need one in the .txt format.
The reason I send it out in HTML and not text is it is easier to use in HTML format. And with only 100 out of over 450 Alumni on the list using AOL, you can see my reason for going with the HTML version.
I am also considering just placing a link in the monthly email newsletter that would point to the email list on the website. And making a .txt version available for download from the website as well.
I would still send out a monthly email newsletter though. Let me know what you all think of this.
And look out for email attachments. These is a rash of trojans and virus that are in the wild. I got one yesterday, I didnt open it though. (close one)
Glad to see you found the website Linda and are making use of it. I enjoy working on it.

Comments:   W.G. will leave the presidential post at WWC at the end of this school year. I think he's going to take a sabbatical, then return to teaching. The latest news on Reunion West 2002 is that I'm waiting for a WWC committee to meet to approve use of the Fine Arts Center for July 5 and 6, 2002. Since it's unlikely that there'll be a conflicting event at that time of year, the special events director tells me that they'll most likely approve our request. In the unlikely event of their disapproval, there are other local sites that could work, so we're not sunk if that happens. So twiddle your thumbs for a while and keep an eye on this site. I'll post news as soon as I have it. By the way, if you plan to bring a trailer or camper, WWC has a parking lot with water/sewer/electrical hookups. And one last thing: I know of a handful of PVA folk in the Walla Walla Valley, but I'm guessing that there are a few from earlier classes here whom I don't know about. If you're in the Walla Walla area and are willing to help with the reunion, please contact me.

It is always interesting when an anonymous author stands on their pulpit and lets the rest of us know that God is angry and will soon carry out horrible retribution upon us "Laodcieans." I was wondering if the author had ingested some pharmacological substance before reading his/her audience the riot act. Isn't life interesting? John Buchholz

Comments:   Not sure Missy. I was unable to make it last night, but did test it on Sunday Morning. Seemed to be working ok. Might have been some sort of internet hic up. There are a lot connections along the way that can cause that. If one drops for a sec or two it could cause the link to be lost. chat programs "ping" the folks using them. If the "ping" does not get returned, then the chat server may drop the connection.
Could be firewall related, but I doubt it as I have a Cisco firewall at work and it seems to work ok through it. I would guess that it is a short lived problem as you have been able to get in most of the time.
Sorry for the problem though. I do have the "other" chat server available if folks want to switch back to it. But it is slow to load if you are behind a firewall.

Comments:   To those I emailed that I was planning on attending the 2000 reunion. My wife, son and I made it to Philadelphia and met my parents (faculty 69-71) who were visiting there to persuade them to go with us to the reunion. The Thursday before alumni weekend we all went to Atlantic City and on the way back I met a deer and totaled our car. If you haven't found out yet it's hard to drive 70mph with an air bag in your face (fortunately I had that retired drivers Ed. teacher in the back)everybody was OK(the deer excluded) but we had to deal with insurance and rent a car to come home in. So we just didn't make it. After 4 years of waiting it was depressing but we will try again in 2004. And for those who are wondering yes! my vision could have been blurred by tears of poverty after leaving Atlantic City.

Comments:   Planning for PVA Reunion West 2002 has begun. Our president, Helen Kuntz, has given me the green flag to get started. The date's set at July 5-7, 2002 and the location will probably be on the Walla Walla College campus in College Place, Washington. I've started discussing the planning with the events director at WWC and should be able to firm up plans within a couple of weeks. Watch the Guest Book for further info. Interested in attending? Send me an e-mail; we'd like to get an indication of how many might attend. I've already heard from folk in Wisconsin and Kansas who would like to be there. If you plan on coming, then contact others and encourage them to come, too. Suggestions for program participants: speakers, musical folk, etc.? E-mail me with your suggestions or feel free to volunteer yourself. I hope to hear from many of you and hope to see you all face to face. This will be 25 years for those of us who graduated in 1977 and 35 years for those who graduated in 1967.

Otherwise, if someone wants a CD made of a certain year, if we do not have copy of it or it has not been copied before (by the Yearbook Cd folks)then we would beed the use of the yearbook. Either from the 1st person odering that year or from someone willing to let it be copied.
I wish we had the books and the funds to just go ahead and have all the years done. But we do not have the funds for it.

Comments:   A few changes on the website. The chat program that we used to use for the "Alumni Chat" is down for a while. It has been replaced with a nice third party version. (ads) But has some nice features. The server the old chat program runs on has become, well, unstable.
We removed the "Alumni Bookstore". (lack of sales)
We also removed the map section.
We added the "Yearbook on CD" This is a great offer. I hope that everyone takes advantage of it. To me, retaining the history of PVA is one of the main goals of the Alumni Assc.
If you have not sent in your personal information update to us, please take the time to do so. This information is very important to us. You can use the link on the main webpage.
We also will be sending out another email newsletter very soon.
Let us know what you have been up to. Its been a long cold winter for many. And spring aint that far away now.
And as always,

Comments:   With the offering of the Yearbook Cd-Rom's, we would also need help in securing a copy of all the yearbooks. If you have a yearbook that you have, that we do not have a copy of, we would need that yearbook to make the Cd. But once that Cd is made, it is kept on file. Thus, others would be able to get a copy. If you have something written in it, it is possible to have some of it edited out.
This is a project that I think is very important, to secure our yearbooks in a format that will last long after the physical yearbooks are gone.
All we need is 20 folks wanting one Cd Yearbook and we are on our way!

Comments:   We have added a new and very important item to the website. One that I hope all of the "Online Alumni" will use. On the main webpage you will see a little button. There you can update your information in the Alumni Database. This is not the same database I have online.. This database is used for mailings and to keep an "offical" contact list. From this list we send out newsletters and reunion information via snail mail. So you see, it is very important that this database be current and correct. So please take a few seconds and update your information. It is setup to do one person per entry. So if your are married and your spouse is also an alumni of PVA, each would have a seperate entry. Please indicate if you have changed your name. Ie: Robin (McEvers) Shriver. MvEvers being her maiden name. The other information fields are easy to do. All fields are needed, the phone number is an optional item. This information is for the sole use of The P.V.A. Alumni Assc. It will not be made available to anyone else.

We will no longer snail mail out items to folks that are online, that have email and can get to this website. The snail mailings are very costly. And our budget is very small. So we want to make the best use of the funds we have. I hope that you all understand.

Very soon, you will also receive an email with a questionare attached/included. You will also be able to update your information with this. It will also allow you to go into more detail (kids work etc).

It will also have some reunion questions for you. Yes, we are already working on the next one. You have to start it sometime, and we want the next to be smoother, bigger and better. And we dont want Helen to work so hard on this one. So, now is the time to let us know what you can do to help make the next reunion everything it should be! Be involved, you may care, but do you make a difference? Thats what life is all about...making a difference. And by the way, its fun!

Thanks for putting up with this long rambling thing. And we are glad so many have enjoyed the website and are excited about how many more will visit it. Even Mr. and Mrs. Wessman are online now! GMWessman@juno.com

Thanks for your time and thank God for allowing us this time...

Tim & Robin

Comments:   Here is a little blurb from the past that was sent my way:

PIONEER VALLEY ACADEMY. A coeducational boarding school formerly operated on the high school level at New Braintree, Massachusetts, by the Southern New England Conference. The academy was opened in September 1965 with an initial enrollment of 233 students. The institution replaced the boarding facilities of the South Lancaster Academy. It was first planned in 1958 and the ground was broken on July 2, 1961. Work opportunities for students included Harris Pine Mills and Dakota Bake-N-Serv. Principals: H. D. Lawson, 1965–1969; Jack Knowles, 1969–1974; Lyle Botimer, 1974–1979; Robert Lebard, 1979–1982; Garry Sudds, 1982–1983.

Thought it was interesting to say the least...

Our daughter decided that it was too cold to ski and hung out in the lodge with me. Our son kept his father going all day. It was nice to have a white Christmas. We don't get much snow in this part of Virginia. But we are glad that we got out of New England before the storm this weekend. 10 days with the inlaws is plenty, wouldn't want to get snowbound with them! I keep thinking I will get to join the joint-rec sessions but can never seem to find one of the computers free during that time. I'll keep trying. Later!

Comments:   Wow! its warmer in Alaska and less snow then we have, but we don't have a whale in the front yard anywhere(Ran out to look). Good to hear from the folks in the Great White North. Is it a ranch style igloo? :)

Comments:   Judy, John, and I spent our Christmas here in our little igloo in SE Alaska. This week the temps have been in the 40's. The foot of snow we got a couple of weeks ago has all melted and is looking like spring(rain) here. There has been a humpback whale infront of our house(in the water) for the last 3 wks or so. We saw the Northern lights and heard a wolf last week. It's great living in the middle of a "Zoo" ;-). Hope everyone has a GREAT New Year.

Comments:   Glad you stopped in Karen. And you can't be to bad of a Grinch. I get that way to sometimes :) My Christmas also involved work. (got to pay for it some how). but we had a good Christmas anyways. But this snow thing is getting a little out of hand, 38 inches just in December, so far! And its all still sitting there! Argh... But it will melt someday, hope hope. Thank God for snow blowers.

Comments:   I saw Fawn Gagnon yesterday (we both worked Christmas eve.) and after speaking to her felt the need to send best wishes to all. I feel like the Grinch this evening with a little warm spot in my heart for those I've not seen but often think of (do you think it's the season? the wine? or both? : ). Tim and Robin you're doing a great job here! Keep up the good work, I know we all appreciate it even if we don't sign in.

Comments:   Sounds like life in the North West keeps you busy Elmer. Vacation? Whats that. :) I hope all goes well with the newbie on the way. I am sure it will be. If I lived closer, I'd give you a hand with the truck, been a while since I tinkered on a engine. Good luck and have a great Holiday and see you at Joint Rec.

Comments:   Though I live in Oregon, I still keep one eye pointed east. I was at the Worcester Telegram's website tonight and noticed that New Braintree will celebrate its 250th anniversary in 2001. The article detailed events to be held next year, including a parade that will march from the center of town to the town hall and back around. Let's see, that's five steps forward and five steps back. To answer your question about plans for the holidays, Tim, I'll be on vacation during the last two weeks of December and will probably be working on projects around the house (including running some new wiring, hanging two doors for the new laundry room, etc.), rebuilding the clutch slave cylinder in my '65 Dodge pickup, presenting a sermon on Dec. 23 at our church and scrounging up more firewood. And I'll try to drop in at the PVA chatroom again -- I encourage you all to drop in, too. Our daughter Naomi will be 3 at the end of March and our new arrival is due at the end of April. Feel free to contact me via e-mail. I enjoy hearing from you all.

Comments:   One of the most popular items on the website are the photos we have. Folks love to look at old and new images of fellow Alumni and the school we all attended.
To help keep this important area fresh and active, Doug Knowlton will be joining us as the "Photo Editor". He will be seeking out the best images that can be found. Doug will also be working with the images you all send in to us for posting. Thanks for the help Doug!

Comments:   I have had a couple of folks email me letting me know that the email center does not work for them. This is due to the fact that the website is written to support Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher. Netscape is now owned by AOL and is no longer considered to be a "good" browser to use in the world of the internet. I will do my best to make it usable for both types of browser, but some items just may not work with Netscape. There is a link at the bottem of the main webpage if you need to get Internet Explorer. Make sure to get a version that is 5.0 or higher. Sorry for any problems this may cause.

Comments:   We have added a new serivce to the website. The "Message Center" is an area where you may post items For Sale, your favorite receipes or anything else you wish to post. It is not meant to replace this guestbook, but to offer another way of expessing yourself to others. We have also moved the "Alumni Email Center" to a place inside the main menu. Just look for "Email Center". I just can't leave things alone :)

Comments:   1st time visitor, what a web-site, you guys are well organized. I really enjoyed reading all the notes from those people I knew. I have been married to a wonderful woman, Anne for the past 18 years. We have three children, katie 15, Cameron 13 and Allie 11. I have been living in CA since 1978 in various locations, Boulder Creek, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Manhattan Beach, and most recently Ojai (a small town about 20 miles inland and between Santa Barbara and Ventura). In July we moved back to Ojai after 2 years in Seattle. We returned for a number of reasons, Anne did not enjoy being retired ( she had worked full time prior to the move), she did not enjoy the loss of respect associated that goes with full-time mom and she missed her family ( a native los Angleino). She contacted the school our kids had gone to in Ojai, Ojai Valley School and got the job running the development office. So we are back, Anne is working the kids are back in a school they love and I’m not working. I am a registered, non-practicing, Occupational Therapy and have a Masters in Business Administration. For the last 22 years I have managed physician clinics/groups. During that period I also traveled extensively as a consultant to insurance companies and physician groups. So I guess that makes me partly responsible for the mess the our healthcare delivery system is in today. Part of the deal we struck in moving back to Ojai was that I was going to work less and spend more time with my family, so I’ve been enjoying life to the fullest, exercising a lot, helping with homework, taking yoga classes, grocery shopping, doing the laundry and finding the time to explore the PVA web-site, something I would have never found time for in the past. My mom and dad have both passed away and I haven’t been back East for pleasure in many years. I did hear about the PVA reunion from my step-mother About 6 years ago I got together with Carolyn Farley, and as Deni

Comments:   From what I understand the proposal to purchase land (30 acres) passed. 500 people representing SNEC churches were the ones who voted. Not sure what the 2nd item to be voted or talked about was or what the out come was. I have emailed the folks who attended (that I know of) and invited them to post what they know here. There will be more items concerning the trust fund this May. I will post anything that I hear of..
