Someone came to me at the reunion asking if we had found a black umbrella. I can't remember who you were, but yes, we have found a black umbrella. If you read this and would like to make arrangements to get it back, please email me at pvaalumni@yahoo.com

Thanks...

Just a note of thanks to all who helped to make the reunion a success. If I miss anyone, please forgive me, but I'll try not to...

Thanks to Deb & Alex Bezerra for helping to spread the word about the reunion every way they could. And for always being there with great ideas and lots of encouragement.

Thanks to the Corcoran sisters...Linda, Carol, Anne... for helping me pass out announcement cards to PVA folk at campmeeting. They made it a bit of a contest and we had some giggles. Anne I missed you at the reunion!

Thank you to Dorothy Tissair Nesbitt. She has spent alot of time trying to find missing people for the database...and she has committed to continue doing so. She's made quite a dent in that big task already. Keep up the good work!

Thanks to those who could not attend, but sent their love via email. And to those who sent suggestions and encouragement along the way. We'll be posting these on the website for all to see.

Thank you to Jean Smead Brodis, and Linda Corcoran Reardon for taking care of the registration table for me. This was a huge help to me.

Thank you to my wonderful husband for the following: Getting our PVA sign out of storage, helping Jeff Linthwaite pick up tables and chairs that were loaned to us by the SNEC...then setting them up for me, helping in the kitchen, putting the sign, tables and chairs back in storage, and helping me take all the reunion "stuff" out of the church afterward. And for being my rock and my honey bear :-)

Thank you to Jeff Linthwaite for running up and down the stairs of the ABC with me, carrying class pictures and wrangling them in through the side door of my jeep, because the tailgate is stuck closed. And for not only offering us the use of extra tables and chairs, but delivering them. We were sorry Jeff and Julie couldn't be at the reunion...they were missed.

Our dear "old" friend Galo Gonzales who found countless ways to help out. Galo, assisted by Rob DeCharlesroy, found a way to display every class picture in a room that had no place to hang anything.

My brother, Bob, who created the sign with our PVA insignia on it, and our PVA Cafe lettering for the glass doors in the fellowship hall. And all at no charge. I owe him a lasagne!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to my precious parents. They helped me shop, load and unload food and paper goods, stored it in their house until reunion time. My dad opened and closed the church for me countless times, and made sure we had anything we needed while we were there. My mom chopped and stirred and simmered and you name it, to give us tubs full of chicken salad for finger rolls, and delicious pasta sauce for our penne...assisted by my dad, my husband, and our youngest son, Jason. My parents put in four long days to help me pull this off. I'm taking them out to dinner :-)

Thanks to Jason for giving up his "off work" time to help us with all the moving of food and supplies, the PVA sign, tables and chairs. And for his interesting helium balloon experiments. I noticed that we had one balloon in our helium balloon bouquet that wanted to lay down on the floor while all the others were standing at attention. Rob brought to my attention that it had water in it! Jay, you're full of tricks ;-)

Thank you to Lauri Laclair Perry for taking half of the phone list and helping me get the word out about the reunion. And for all her support and encouragement. She jumped right in and helped keep things running when I was running out of steam. I can't thank you enough, Lauri...my most unlikely friend :-)

Thanks to Doug Perry for doing all kinds of little chores and errands. Thanks for picking out a beautiful bouquet of roses for you and Lauri to present to me. I gave Lauri a big hug, and forgot about you. Please consider yourself hugged...you're an awesome friend and you deserve it.

Thanks to everyone who attended. For your spirit and your kindness and gratitude.

Thanks to those who attended the meeting. You shared so many great ideas and I feel that we have an excellent start on planning our next reunion. Your participation means so much and will make our alumni association so much better. You guys are the best.

Thanks to Gary Brodis who spent nearly every minute working in the kitchen. His hard work and great sense of humor made all that had to be done, go alot smoother.

Thanks to the Worcester Church for hosting our reunion. Worcester is special to me for so many reasons, not the least of which, this is where I was baptized, and where Jerry and I got married 25 years ago this past August 31st. I have so many great memories there, including the reunion. And so many people in Worcester have touched my life and I love them for it.

Thank you to Dennis Farley for braving some horrific traffic Friday evening to give a devotional. And for his positive outlook, enthusiasm, and support this weekend, and over the years. It means so much.

Thank you to Lisa Stewart for her beautiful song.

Thanks to Lorna Smead Zabaletta for being our official photographer. We'll post pictures when they're ready so everyone can see.

Thank you to Mike Pomeroy and Kevin Avery, Inner Seed, for their inspirational music on Saturday evening.

Thank you all for the hugs, and expressions of gratitude and appreciation. They help keep me going.

If I forgot anyone, hopefully I'll remember later and I'll post a thank you when I do!

I want you all to know that it's a pleasure to serve you and I love each and every one. My thanks to all of you...looking forward to 2008.

With Love,

Helen

Let me second Jean's remarks both thanking Helen and Jerry and also Lauri for all the work they put in to make PVA Reunion 2005 a success.  Now on to planning for 2008.  I will be getting all the database information we have organized in the next couple of months and hope that all those who volunteered as Class information people will be staying in touch.  I will be letting you know about those we are merely missing a little info and those who truly seemed to be lost.  Will post a little at a time here as well.  Remember the goal for 2008.  Everyone here this year will come back with one more alumnus.

It was a wonderful PVA Reunion this week-end.  Thanks so much for Jerry and Helen Kuntz for all of their planning and work to make it so special.  For all of you who missed it, we missed you and will hope to see you in 3 years when we have the next  PVA reunion.  It was great to reconnect with so many friends from the past and to meet new people. This week I'm in full gear getting ready for our reunion!

I still need people to lead song service, do special music, pray, or do a devotional for both the Friday Night Candlelight Service, and Sabbath Sundown Vespers. Please drop me a note if you'd like to take part...otherwise you'll be seeing alot of my face at the podium :-0

Also, if anyone can arrive early on Friday, there are many ways that you can help. Jerry and I will be at the church pretty much all day preparing for your arrival. There are set up, decoration, food prep, registration, and parking attendant duties (mainly on Saturday).

We're planning to have a great time start to finish, and we'll try not to work anybody too hard or too long. "Many hands make light work!!!"

Last, but not least. If anyone is wondering about bringing food. No need, but if you would like to, it will be appreciated. And, yes, you may pay per meal and/or make a donation. The idea is to share the cost of putting on the reunion so we can keep some in the bank for the website, mailbox, etc.

All your gifts of time, money, talent is truly appreciated and help to make our reunions memorable. Thank you all and I can't wait to greet you this weekend.

With Love,

Helen

I think I've hit most of the major routes. Rts 9, 12, 122, and 31 all bring you in to Worcester. If my directions don't apply to you, just remember 2 Airport Drive, Worcester, MA and do a search on mapblast or mapquest. The Worcester Airport SDA Church is at the bottom of Airport Drive at the corner of Mill Street and Airport Drive. There is a ballfield across the street. Watching for Airport signs will help you know you're on track. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to post your questions here, or email me at:

Hey Everyone,

Only 4 more day until the reunion!!! If you haven't already mailed in your registration fees, please just bring them to the reunion. Also, it is fine for you to just pay for the meals you are planning to be there for.

On Saturday Evening, Inner Seed will play for us...and you will be given the opportunity to share your own talents. Please don't be shy, it's more fun when there's lots of participation :-) In any event, please stay if you can and enjoy great fellowship, food, and music.

I'll be putting up some directions to the church as soon as I get them all figured out.

More updates as needed...

Hi, Everyone. Well, the last time I wrote I was in the process of getting my degree. I graduated in 2003 with a degree in Corporate Training (aka Adult Education). I'm currently working with the good folks at Continuing Education at the University of New Mexico. December 2002 I married the a wonderful guy named Ron. We are happily living in Albuquerque, NM but are looking to move to western Colorado in the next 2-3 years. Hey, does anyone know where Denise Gaynor is? She wrote to me using the email address I had put in the Guestbook, but unfortunately, I had already changed to a new address. So, it was almost a year later that I found her email and by then she must have changed hers. If anyone can give me an email or street address, I'd sure appreciate it.

I dropped back in to remove the ciggy ads from the guestbook.

I also archived anything that was in this guestbook prior to 04/2005.

You will find those in the Guestbook archives section.

At the end of the year, I will archive everything currently in the active

guestbook so that we have a fresh faster to load main page.

Please plan to stay for our Saturday night program. After vespers we will open the PVA Cafe. There will be lots of good food. I have arranged a musical program to be presented by Worcester Churches own Mike Pomeroy and Kevin Avery. They will be singing contemporary inspirational music, including some of their own original pieces written by Mike's wife Carole. There will be opportunity for you to sing along, and they will open the mic up to all who want to share their own talents, as we did last reunion.
They were kind enough to allow my dad and I a private concert, and I believe their music will indeed inspire you.

IT'S JUST UNDER A MONTH UNTIL OUR REUNION. JUST WANT TO LET EVERYONE KNOW HOW THINGS ARE GOING.

A.) THERE HAVE BEEN 116 VISITS TO MY REUNION INFORMATION WEBSITE TO DATE.

B.) LAURI LACLAIR PERRY AND I HAVE GONE THROUGH THE DATABASE AND CONTACTED AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE BY TELEPHONE.

C.) I HAVE EMAILED AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE ON BOTH THE PVA DATABASE AND CLASSMATES.COM. DOROTHY TISSAIR NESBITT IS GOING THROUGH BOTH LISTS AGAIN, TRYING TO BE SURE EVERYONE GETS THE NEWS, AND ALSO WORKING ON GETTING CORRECT CONTACT INFORMATION FOR THOSE WHO HAVE GONE MISSING.

D.) ALEX AND DEB BEZERRA HAVE BEEN HELPING ME TO TRY TO GETTING ANNOUNCEMENTS OUT THROUGHOUT THE NORTHERN NEW ENGLAND, AND SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND CONFERENCES

E.) MANY OF YOU ARE EMAILING OR CALLING FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO SHARE THE NEWS OF THE REUNION

F.) SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE OFFERED TO HELP IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE, AND I AM FINDING WAYS TO UTILIZE THEIR SERVICES.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP. I'M REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING ALL OF YOU AT THE REUNION.

HELP MAKE THIS AN AWSOME REUNION

1.) IF POSSIBLE...PRE-REGISTER, AND PREPAY...THIS HELPS ME TO PLAN HOW MUCH FOOD TO BUY...AND TO HAVE PLENTY OF FUNDS TO SHOP WITH. I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH HOW IMPORTANT THIS IS. THE MOST DIFFICULT THING ABOUT REUNION PLANNING, OUTSIDE OF TRYING TO LOCATE EVERYONE, IS TRYING TO PLAN FOOD. MAKING SURE THERE'S PLENTY WITHOUT BEING STUCK WITH TONS OF LEFTOVERS.

2.) IF YOU CAN'T PRE-REGISTER OR PRE-PAY, A DONATION MADE AT THE REUNION WILL ALSO BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

3.)YES, YOU CAN PAY PER MEAL...$10 FOR EACH MEAL YOU WILL PARTAKE OF

4.) SOME ASKED IF THEY SHOULD BRING FOOD. I'VE GOTTEN AWAY FROM THE POTLUCK.
* IT IS DIFFICULT TO HEAT/CHILL THINGS
* IT IS NOT CONVENIENT FOR MANY PEOPLE TO BRING FOOD WHEN THEY ARE SPENDING THE WEEKEND IN HOTELS OR SOMEONE ELSE'S HOME
* THERE'S NO WAY TO BE CERTAIN OF HAVING ENOUGH FOOD TO GO ROUND.

BUT, IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO BRING SOMETHING TO ADD TO THE BANQUET TABLE, WE WON'T TURN IT DOWN, AND WILL BE VERY APPRECIATIVE. A DONATION OF FOOD IS EVERY BIT AS WELCOME AS A CASH DONATION.

5.) TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY ABOUT THE REUNION. PEOPLE MOVE AND CHANGE EMAIL AND PHONE NUMBERS QUITE FREQUENTLY. IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP UP WITH EVERYONE. WE DO TRY TO REACH AS MANY AS POSSIBLE, BUT PLEASE DON'T COUNT ON US TO REACH EVERYONE. YOUR HELP IN SHARING THE NEWS AND GETTING OTHERS TO UPDATE THEIR CONTACT INFORMATION WITH US IS INVALUABLE.

6.) ASK ME HOW YOU CAN VOLUNTEER. I TRY VERY HARD NOT TO OVERWORK ANYONE. JUST A FEW MINUTES OF YOUR TIME CAN MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE.

7.) BRING YOUR POEMS, STORIES, MEMORIES, GRATITUDES. BRING YOUR VOICE, YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR, YOUR MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS. BE PREPARED TO USE THEM. THERE WILL BE PLENTY OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOU TO PARTICIPATE. IT'S HELPFUL IF YOU TALK WITH ME AHEAD OF TIME. BUT I'M PRETTY GOOD AT WINGING IT, AND I PROMISE WE'LL FIT YOU IN, EVEN AT THE LAST MINUTE.

8.) WHETHER YOU WILL BE SPENDING THE WHOLE WEEKEND WITH US, OR JUST STAYING FOR CHURCH AND LUNCH, PLEASE DROP ME AN EMAIL AND LET ME KNOW IF YOU'RE COMING....IT HELPS

I notice alot of double postings. Just click on POST once. After I do this I usually go back to the guest book, or even leave the site and come back. Within minutes my posting is generally viewable in the guest book. If you stay on the page where you submitted your message it can seem like it's not going through for you. I learned this by trial and error. Mostly error :-)

Well I go away for a couple of months and find I can cause trouble not even being here. Colleen, as the webmaster of this site twice removed I can assure you that people can put things in here without you even being aware unless you check it every day. Second, anonymous e-mails don't bother me. The only thing I feel bad about is if I did something to someone so bad that they still have strong feelings about it 30 years later. If that is the case then I beg their forgiveness and ask them to move on. Colleen, as my friend John said, you will usually find this site an open, accepting group of old friends. Hope you come back and join us again some day.

Paul

John you said something about coming to Washington sometime? Look me up.

It's just about a month until the reunion. Lauri Laclair Perry and I are making phone calls to everyone we can reach. If there's anyone you know who should know about the reunion, please tell them yourself. We'll reach all we can, but it's better that someone hears about it two or three times than not at all. Have an announcement made at your church. If anyone wants to help make some phone calls or to try to do some detective work to help find some people, please email me. Lauri and I would be happy for some assistance :-)

We do not solicit, or allow cigarette ads, or anything of that nature. This ad was deleted once, and has returned in duplicate. Will work to get to the bottom of this once and for all.

As far as I can tell, everyone (except the ad bandit), is using the guestbook in the spirit in which it is intended. Hope those who want a kinder, gentler website will stay on, and keep us up to date on where they are and how they are doing :-)

Thank you, John, for your kind words. As a webmaster, I make a much better event planner! But I do want this site to remain, so we can stay in touch, and try to stay up to date on all the PVA happenings.

"It takes every kind of people, to make the world go round"

Colleen,

I would hope you develop a little thicker skin and a more skeptical mind regarding this website. Please come back! You will find most of the postings positive and serves as a conduit for reunion announcements, attempts by people to reconnect with former friends, listing of those that have passed on and yes, at times, the silly or even outrageous posting. Helen does a good job handling the website and I suspect the postings of the "cigarette adds" came by the way of some invasive crawler program. The sheer # of postings suggest that this has happened. However, it can also be a silly prank by someone who has not grown up as of yet.

Regarding the issue of "attack" on someones character. Some people at times have an old grudge or may express some foolish jealousy. Sometimes its just good old fashioned fun between friends. Doug Knowlton, Paul Bauer, Stefan Burnham and myself are examples of this type of exchange. Most discriminating people ignore the type of posting that impugnes someone else. If you look back through the archives, denigrative postings are indeed a very rare event.

Best wishes,

John

This is the first time I've come to this site and I probably won't be back.  I guess I'd like to remember a gentler, kinder PVA.  Maybe I'm too old.  Can't see how the webmaster can allow cigerette ads and attacks on people's characters to be posted on this site.  There must be some controls.  My few months at PVA were some of the happiest of my life.  So sad to hear about Mrs Roberts passing.  Its hard to believe my granddaughter started college this year!

SAD NEWS: Coleen Roberts has passed away.

Coleen Roberts 1928-2005
Faculty at PVA 1968-1980

Below is a note from her Grandson, Jon.

Hi PVA Alumni, It is with great sadness I report the passing of my grandmother. She died at home with her family around her side on July 31st, 2005. I know that a majority of her years at academys were spent at PVA. So I was hoping you could let the alumni know of her passing. Our family is dealing wth the sadness of losing a loved one but thank God we have this hope in the coming of our Lord. Thanks so much to all of PVA former students and faculty that made her years at PVA so memorable.

Thanks again Jon Roberts Son of Stephen Roberts & Kimberly Roberts

I believe it's just over five weeks until the reunion. We're finding that alot of people have moved or changed email or phone numbers. Please continue to share the news with friends and family, and we'll keep on trying to reach people every way we can.

Also...we've had quite a few people volunteer their services, but we've many more spots to fill, so let me know if you'd like to participate in any way.

We pulled together a fine impromptu talent show for Saturday night during our last reunion. I encourage you all to bring your voice, your sense of humor, your poems and stories, your musical instruments...whatever your special talent...I promise to fit you into the weekend's celebrations.

There will be plenty of yummy food throughout the weekend. And plenty of time to visit with old friends.

Feel free to write if you have questions, suggestions, or want to volunteer.

Someone asked me today, "If three meals is $30, can I just pay $10 for each meal that I plan to be there for?" My answer...ABSOLUTELY!

It is really important that you preregister, and if possible prepay. It makes meal planning a whole lot easier. Those of you who are just coming for the day, or just for lunch, can pay per meal, if you like.

Our operating expenses come from reunion registration fees, donations, and a yearly allotment from the SNEC. This money is used for website maintenance, mailbox rental, occasional mailings and phone calls, reunion planning, and miscellaneous expenses. So all contributions are much appreciated.

We've got lots of nice things planned. Hope you'll be there to enjoy them!

Stefan, class of '75 writes... It's been awile since I have visited. I am glad to see some still do. Briefly, my family is healthy, hapy and harmonious (How's that for alliteration... Miss Moore would be proud!) My son is a Senior at SAU. My daughter is a Junior at Madison Academy here in TN. My wife and I just celebrated our 25th anniversary! This might surprise some and disappoint soooo many!) She is a veteran ICU RN and I am deep into my sales career. My AHS colleague and I are on track as we build a diabetic supply company; Attention Diabetics, Inc. 1-888-775-3001 (cheap yet calculated plug here). We are unsure of our continued tenure here in the Madison area. Here's why: Tennessee Christian Medical Center (TCMC) will either close or be purchased; announcement pending. AHS has kept it afloat for awhile but now it is soon to be history. It's quite the newsy info if you are interested in SDA history. I'll spare you the details. E me if you want to know more. I'll have to say though, I found the issue a bit comical; only because when the press inquired, the administration did the ole-soft-shoe-ha-cha-cha and the next week they literally put for sale signs in their yards. Yeehaw! The President and 3 of the entourage are waving from their dinghies! (preposition entry important here). Add sailor music and : Yo! Ho! away we go!  .......Regardless, we have much to consider.

The family and I vacationed in Maine (Presque Isle etc.) I say some of my old public school friends. I was reminded of why I had decided to attend a Christian school (PVA!). So many memories. So many blessings! Well, I have rambled at length. If you wish to e-me I am at SirLafalot@mail.com

Oooooh! don't you love it when it does the blue thing!

Your help is needed in reaching as many as possible with reunion news.

I honestly don't know much about how to maintain the website and I feel that my time is better spent at present just trying to get the information out any way possible. Please work with me and we can reach alot of people. I'm getting myself set up on yahoo for the duration.

Check out the reunion news at the geocities address noted in the body of the last post. Join our yahoo group by clicking on the related link in my last post. This will help me with email updates. Contact all the PVA folk who you keep in touch with or know their whereabouts and direct them to the reunion news. Have them send their contact info.

You may not see updated information in the email list right now, but keep it coming. If you aren't sure if your updated info has been received, go ahead and send it again. I will reply to all future updates so that you know it is received and being added to the database.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all on Columbus Day Weekend.
